The purpose of CATCH is
to conduct cooperative anti-trafficking conferences in Baghdad and
Dubai in order to:
- facilitate the organization of those interested in and capable
of taking action against child trafficking including law enforcement,
NGOs and service providers, government officials, government contractors,
and anyone else willing to dedicate their time, energy, and resources
to helping victims of child trafficking and preventing further
abuse.
- provide vital information, resources and tools for combating
the crime of child trafficking
- facilitate a network of willing and able individuals and groups
who will work together to protect the vulnerable and provide rescue
and care for trafficking victims.
The conference is organized around ten main topics, derived from
the United Nations Toolkit for Combating
Trafficking in Persons. Each topic relates to one major type
of activity that should be undertaken as part of a comprehensive
strategy to address trafficking in persons.
Conference Goals:

criminal justice systems, law enforcement agencies, non-governmental
organizations, government contractors and intergovernmental organizations
to understand and respond effectively to trafficking in persons.
- To suggest ways in which national governmental and other relevant
agencies and organizations can develop various elements of a comprehensive
strategy to prevent and address the problem of trafficking in
persons.
- To suggest ways in which countries and various relevant governmental,
non-governmental organizations, and government contractors can
become more able to identify victims of trafficking and offer
effective protection and assistance.
- To suggest ways in which local municipalities, law enforcement
agencies and various other governmental, non-governmental organizations,
and government contractors can work in partnership with each other
to combat trafficking in persons and to develop effective measures
against it.
